I wish A Christmas Carol had an even stronger influence on Christmas tradition and ghosts became a symbol of the holiday

Even better if terrorising the rich into acts of kindness also became a part of Christmas

Start the Christmas traditions you want to see in the world

See, terrorizing the rich into acts of kindness WAS part of the Christmas tradition, it’s actually where caroling came from.

See, Christmas caroling came from a tradition called wassail, where you went around singing Christmas songs and at each house you demanded money, drink, or food in return for your song, generally, you did this around rich neighborhoods.  In fact a lot of old wassail songs are pretty much just “give us food”, one I remember clearly is “The Gloucestershire Wassail”, which includes the stanza “Come butler, come fill us a bowl of the best/Then we hope that your soul in heaven may rest/But if you do draw us a bowl of the small/Then down shall go butler, bowl and all.” which pretty much means “if you don’t give us good food, we’re going to deck your fucking butler”.

And yes, this is where Christmas caroling comes from, wassail, basically threatening people in song form.

In the Venom movie, Annie says something about a high frequency sound being like Venom’s “kryptonite”. This is making a reference to Superman and his weakness, meaning that in the Marvel universe, the DC universe exists. So, in Deadpool 2 (a part of the overall marvel universe), Wade Wilson was not breaking the fourth wall when he was saying, “You’re so dark. Are you sure you’re not from the DC universe?” He was referring to something inside his reality. Were superheroes more well known and frequent before or after those comics existed? Why write about made up superheroes and villains when real ones exist? In this essay I will

My hip new communications theory is actually that millennial/gen z/internet native humor is so weird and abstract because of the sheer amount of words we’re exposed to daily. we’ve heard a lot of words in a lot of different orders so if you wanna get a reaction out of us you usually gotta put words in an order we haven’t seen before

So like normally structured jokes aren’t as funny anymore but “lemon lime spine” is a one-hit K.O.

you know i wanna disagree with you on principle, because it can’t be that simple, but “lemon lime spine” just made me crack up for the first time all day.

• only the first five tags are serchable so make um count.

•Some of the most popular art related tags are #art, #illustration, #design, and #artists on tumblr.

• If you put a link in your post it won’t appear in serch results

• The best time to post seems to be from around 8pm to midnight east coast time

• socialize with other artists. Comments and asks are appreciated by a lot of us, and being friendly will encourage others to check out your stuff

Thank you for sharing these tips @evan-bryant! Really great stuff to keep in mind!

I did not know that about the tags!

psa to all my artfriends looking to get more traction with their art!

PSA!!!

Also socializing is hard. Also I’m too intimidated by other artists.

They’re too cool.
